Wafflart Briet Champagne, une histoire de famille...
Wafflart-Briet (also known as WB) is our 5th generation boutique family champagne house, situated in the charming village of Sacy, (pronounced sassy!) Just 15 minutes south of Reims and 20 minutes north of Epernay.
In the late 1880's the WB family used their farm land to grow grapes to sell to the local big champagne producers in the region. They continued to buy land and grow grapes to sell until the 1950's when there was a sort of 'Champagne revolution' and many growers decided to stop selling due to low prices for their grapes. This is when Wafflart-Briet champagne was born. By keeping their grapes, the 3rd generation - Bernard Wafflart and Micheline Briet, took on the challenge of making their own champagne...
Today, our production is relatively small; around 30000 bottles per year, but the quality is high! WB champagne is made from entirely Premier Cru grapes from the village of Sacy.
We aim to offer high quality champagnes that are fantastic value for money. And we like to see our customers quickly become our friends. Our favourite thing to do is to share a glass (or two) with other WB lovers!
Our main focus is on the Pinot Noir and Meunier grape types and whilst we do grow some Chardonnay, in our champagnes you will find primarily the red varietals. This ensures a crisp, fruity, bold flavour which is refreshing and enjoyable for all occasions.
Tradition is very important to us and we maintain high standards in all aspects of our work. We aim to continue to work with the values instilled in us by the generations of hard working family members before us. We are small enough to care and big enough to cope with the growing demand for the delicious WB champagnes in France and around the world.
